DELI SERDANG — Marking a significant milestone for educational development in Deli Serdang Regency, Regent Dr. Asri Ludin Tambunan officially laid the first stone for the construction of three new classrooms (RKB) and a multipurpose hall at SMPN 1 Beringin.
The ceremony was attended by local government officials, educational department representatives, school administrators, and community leaders, all gathering to support the expansion of local academic infrastructure designed to accommodate the growing student body in Beringin District.
In his remarks, Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan emphasized that improving learning environments is a critical foundation for elevating the overall quality of human resources in Deli Serdang. Modern, comfortable, and well-equipped facilities are essential to ensure students can focus on their studies and extra-curricular development.
The addition of the three new classrooms aims to solve capacity challenges and decrease density in existing study spaces. Meanwhile, the construction of the new school hall will provide a dedicated venue for student gatherings, cultural performances, indoor sports, and official academic functions.
“Education remains a top priority for our administration. Investing in proper facilities at schools like SMPN 1 Beringin is an investment in our youth’s future, giving them the space they need to innovate, learn, and excel,” Regent Asri Ludin stated during the event.
The Regent also urged the school administration, teachers, and parents to maintain strong communication and synergy. He highlighted that while physical infrastructure is vital, the collaborative efforts between educators and guardians remain the primary engine for building student character and academic excellence.
The construction phase is slated to proceed immediately under strict supervision to ensure the new facilities meet safety and quality standards before being handed over for routine educational activities.
The infrastructure expansion at SMPN 1 Beringin forms part of a broader educational reform initiative spearheaded by the Deli Serdang Regency Government. Facing rapid population growth due to its proximity to Medan and Kualanamu International Airport, the regency is prioritizing equal distribution of quality educational facilities across all sub-districts to prevent overcrowding in urban schools.
Upgrading junior high school infrastructure like SMPN 1 Beringin serves a dual purpose in local community life. Multipurpose halls built within public school grounds frequently double as community centers for youth development programs, vocational workshops, and local civic gatherings during non-academic hours, fostering stronger community engagement around educational institutions.
