DELI SERDANG — Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang Regency is gearing up to celebrate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia with a vibrant series of cultural and entertainment events designed for passengers and visitors.
Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi has scheduled a lineup of activities featuring ethnic showcases, live musical performances, interactive games, and dedicated festive photo spots across the terminal area.
Acting President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi at Kualanamu International Airport, Yosrizal Syamsuri, stated that the celebrations aim to provide a memorable and distinct experience for travellers while passing through the airport during the national celebration period.
“In welcoming and celebrating the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia this year, PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi has prepared a series of events that can be enjoyed by all visitors at Kualanamu Airport,” Yosrizal said in a press release on Friday (14/8/2026).
Among the key highlights is the Parade Nusantara, an ethnic and cultural procession featuring airport staff wearing traditional costumes, accompanied by live regional dance performances inside the main terminal.
The festive atmosphere will be further enhanced by Parade Swara, offering live violin and piano instrumental performances, as well as Simfoni Nusantara, which will bring traditional Malay musical compositions to passengers in the boarding lounge.
To complement the festivities, the airport management has installed several Independence-themed photo booths for passengers and visitors, along with interactive Independence Day games.
Yosrizal emphasized that the initiative serves dual purposes: celebrating the national holiday while reinforcing the operator’s commitment to elevating passenger service standards and operational excellence.
“We consistently strive to deliver top-tier services for passengers traveling via air transport through Kualanamu Airport,” Yosrizal stated.
He added that management will continue implementing service innovations to enhance overall passenger comfort and convenience throughout the terminal.
As one of North Sumatra’s primary international gateways, Kualanamu Airport regularly incorporates regional cultural heritage into its customer experience programs during major national holidays, positioning the airport as a cultural window into Sumatran traditions.
