MEDAN, SUMUT — The National Executive Board of the Anti-Corruption Institution of the Republic of Indonesia (DPN LAKRI) has officially established the leadership lineup for its North Sumatra Provincial Executive Board (DPP LAKRI North Sumatra). The official decree (SK) was handed over directly by the General Chairperson of DPN LAKRI, HM. S. Samueel Lee Lahengko, S.H., S.Th., to the newly appointed North Sumatra Chairman, Charles Bronson Surbakti, on Sunday (16/8/2026).
The Decree Number 001/SK-DPP/ID-SU/LAKRI/VIII/2026, issued in Jakarta on August 16, 2026, serves as the formal foundation for DPP LAKRI North Sumatra to execute its organizational agenda and community oversight programs across North Sumatra province.
Under the new leadership structure, Mikail T. Parlindungan Purba, S.H. serves as Patron, Charles Bronson Surbakti as Chairman, Yehezkiel Lokanantha as Secretary, Daniel Ginting, SE as Vice Secretary, and Doanta Singarimbun as Treasurer.
The executive directorial positions are held by Bastian Tampubolon (Intelligence & Investigation), Richard Fernando Tarigan (Media & Information), Irena Sinaga (Public Policy), and Sri Rahayu Marta Heppy Tarigan, S.H. (Legal & Advocacy). Meanwhile, Aswin Pranata Surbakti, S.H. assumes the role of Deputy Director for Legal & Advocacy, and Refi Kurniawan serves as Deputy Director for Intelligence & Investigation.
The official handover marks a crucial milestone for LAKRI in North Sumatra to solidify its presence and enhance public participation in monitoring regional governance and public administration.
Expressing his appreciation to the central leadership, Charles Bronson Surbakti pledged that LAKRI North Sumatra will actively engage with local communities to support anti-corruption prevention and enforcement initiatives.
“With numerous corruption cases remaining unresolved across various sectors, LAKRI is determined to assist the government in eradicating corruption down to its roots,” Charles stated, emphasizing that the institution must deliver tangible, real-world impacts for the public.
Emphasis on Unitary Command and Broader Social Role
Concurrently, the Chairman of the LAKRI Advisory Council, Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Sabar Yudo Suroso, emphasized the critical importance of maintaining organizational unity and adhering to a single line of command.
Sabar Yudo recalled that LAKRI’s inception was historically tied to strategic national directives aimed at curbing systemic corruption. He noted that the former Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Djoko Santoso, personally instructed the establishment of LAKRI to unite citizens across the archipelago in anti-corruption efforts.
He further pointed out that LAKRI’s scope extends beyond anti-corruption oversight to encompass broader social initiatives and community advocacy, urging the new leadership to maintain operational integrity and become a benchmark for non-governmental oversight bodies.
To ensure effective implementation across North Sumatra’s 33 regencies and cities, DPP LAKRI North Sumatra plans to establish regional branch offices (DPC) in key municipalities, including Medan, Deli Serdang, Karo, and Simalungun. This expansion aims to build a comprehensive grassroots network capable of auditing local budget allocations, infrastructure project execution, and public service transparency.
Furthermore, the leadership board intends to collaborate closely with law enforcement authorities, including the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) and the High Prosecution Office of North Sumatra (Kejati Sumut). By offering investigative support and legal analysis on public complaints, LAKRI aims to bolster regional transparency while advocating for administrative reforms across local government agencies.
