Fresh details regarding Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 18, have begun surfacing across online tech communities. According to the latest leaks from prominent tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), the flagship device is currently undergoing testing in five distinct color options: Black, White, Pink, Blue, and Red.
Design-wise, the Xiaomi 18 is expected to retain a familiar aesthetic layout, featuring a square camera island positioned at the top-left corner of its rear panel, mirroring the design language of its predecessor.
Underneath the hood, the device is slated to deliver monster performance. The Xiaomi 18 is rumored to be among the first commercial smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. Built on TSMC’s advanced 2-nanometer (2nm) fabrication process, the processor houses an in-house octa-core Oryon CPU, a shared 16MB L2 cache, an Adreno 845 GPU, and fast LPDDR5X memory support.
Significant upgrades are also heading to the photography department. Departing from the triple 50MP camera setup seen on the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 18 will reportedly introduce a co-engineered Leica dual-camera system. This setup is led by a massive 200MP primary sensor coupled with a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, offering substantial leaps in resolution and telephoto reach.
Regarding pricing, reports suggest that the Xiaomi 18 could start at 5,499 Yuan in China (approximately IDR 14.5 million)—a notable 1,000 Yuan jump from the Xiaomi 17’s debut price. Addressing industry concerns over rising device costs, Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing noted that high component prices, particularly memory chips, will likely persist until late 2027 or 2028, putting upward pressure on flagship pricing across the industry.
Beyond core performance and camera improvements, leaks from industry insiders indicate that Xiaomi may ditch traditional glass back panels for the Xiaomi 18 lineup. Instead, the company is reportedly opting for premium fiberglass materials, a growing trend among flagship manufacturers seeking improved durability and lighter form factors. Furthermore, the flagship series has already made its presence felt on regulatory databases, having recently secured EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) certification, hinting at an earlier-than-expected global debut following its official launch in China.
The decision to adopt a 2nm semiconductor node places Xiaomi at the forefront of the mobile silicon revolution. As semiconductor manufacturing reaches smaller nodes, power efficiency and thermal management improve dramatically, allowing demanding AI models to run natively on the device. By pairing this processing prowess with a massive 200MP periscope telephoto setup, Xiaomi is explicitly positioning the Xiaomi 18 series to compete directly against rival ultra-premium devices in the market.
